Who is AlphaRainbow?
AlphaRainbow was founded in South Africa in 2000 with a clear vision: work with great people and help businesses (and people) grow together. We are often asked: “Where does the name AlphaRainbow actually come from?”
The first part, Alpha, refers to the ‘Alpha-mode’, a state of relaxation and focus where everything flows effortlessly. That is important to us, working without stress and enjoying what we do together.
The second part, Rainbow, is inspired by Nelson Mandela’s vision of South Afrika as the Rainbow Nation: a place where differences are embraced and everyone is welcome.
This combination of clear thinking and a personal, human approach forms the foundation of who we are and how we work.

The beginning of AlphaRainbow
After years of experience at Coca-Cola and Unilever, Michiel, founder and owner of AlphaRainbow, decided in 2000 to make his entrepreneurial dream come true. From South Africa, he founded AlphaRainbow, driven by a clear vision: to collaborate with inspiring people to help both companies and individuals grow.
The rapid expansion: our own tool and the first employee
One of the biggest milestones in our history was the development of our own online survey tool. This year also marked the start of a new chapter. Until 2015, Michiel worked alone from Epe and the first location in Zwolle, but now the first employee was hired. Since then, AlphaRainbow has continued to grow, both in terms of team size and the number of clients.
A period full of highlights
During these years, we developed together with CQM the GSEM analysis and started visualising data in Power BI dashboards. Two important steps that still enable us today to perform in-depth analyses of customer and market data. And not to forget: we also made our 'TV debut' on RTL Z.
Time for our own office!
After renting a space in the city centre of Zwolle for several years, it was time for the next step: our own office. We worked with pleasure for four years at this great location on the Willemskade.

Dreaming big is in our dna, and opening an office abroad is a great example of that. In 2022, this dream became a reality: we opened a second office in the vibrant city of Valencia. A city full of new opportunities, businesses — and let's be honest — simply an amazing place to be.
AI conquers the world
Trends come and go, but AI is a lasting change in the way we work. We were early adopters. Not because it was 'hot', but because we saw (and still see) it as a powerful tool for faster insights and more efficient processes. We continue to explore how this technology can make not only our work, but also that of our clients smarter and more effective.
A new workplace
After a great period at the Willemskade, we moved to our current office at the Grote Voort in Zwolle. A location with lots of businesses activity and more space.
25 years of AlphaRainbow!
What started as an ambition in South Africa, has grown into a succesful company that has helped many businesses and people. Because that is what we like to do the most: helping companies and people grow.
